State Police investigate fatal crash in Mooers, New York

On February 2, 2019, at approximately 1:33 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a two-car collision on State Route 11, in the town of Mooers. An investigation revealed Hilda L. Phair, 75, of Mooers was operating a 2002 Buick Century on State Route 11, traveling west. A 54-year-old woman, of St. Albans, Vermont, was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox on State Route 11, traveling east. Phair lost control of her vehicle, traveled into the eastbound lane of traffic, and collided head-on with Dickson’s vehicle, according to police.

Both women were taken by ambulance to the University of Vermont Health Network at Champlain Valley Physician ‘s Hospital where Phair subsequently died of her injuries. Phair was pronounced deceased at 4:20 p.m. A passenger in Phair’s vehicle was also transported to UVM-CVPH for minor injuries.

The Vermont woman sustained a broken ankle and suffered from chest pain. Two 6-year-old children in her vehicle were taken to UVM-CVPH for evaluation.

An autopsy has been schedule for February 5, 2019, at 9 a.m. This crash remains under investigation. State Police were assisted by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
